Peer Review of Technical Specifications and Design, Remediation of a Waterfront Property, Long Beach, California

Secondary Clarifiers The soil and groundwater at a waterfront property were heavily impacted with VOCs including chlorinated hydrocarbons. A remedial action plan outlined remediation activities at the Site consisting of soil excavation, offsite thermal treatment, soil disposal, and installation/operation of remediation systems. A peer review of technical specifications and design was commissioned to check for errors omissions and potential design improvements. The work included reviewing technical specifications; reviewing diagrams associated with the design of soil and groundwater remediation systems; review the design of proposed remediation processes including advanced oxidation systems and soil vapor extraction systems; and recommending improvements to the design.
