A former aerospace manufacturing facility had been active from World War II through the mid-1990s when it was demolished. The property extended over 32 acres and is located near hotels and airports in Southern California. Environmental investigations identified that soil gas at the site was impacted with perchloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE), which originated from degreasing operations. A soil vapor extraction system was designed and constructed to remediate the site. The project included operation and maintenance, process troubleshooting, process optimization and reporting to regulatory agencies. The site remediation work was contracted as a fixed-price guaranteed remediation project with a multi-million dollar budget. Payments were scheduled based on milestones, including no-further-action (NFA) letters from the State of California.
