Technical Assistance for CERCLA Sites

Former Aerospace Site

Former Aerospace Site

An aerospace client was named as a responsible party in the remediation of two superfund sites located in Southern California. The client participated in the operation of two operating units designed to capture a plume of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in groundwater through two high-capacity pump-and-treat systems. Both systems consisted of several high-capacity groundwater extraction wells, an air-stripper system, activated carbon water treatment system (LPGAC), and activated carbon air emissions control system (VPGAC). Technical assistance included: preparing cost estimates for capital projects, preparing summary reports for multiparty meetings including regulatory agencies; reviewing operation budgets and projecting annual and long term costs; preparing technical memorandums and responses on behalf of the client; providing regulatory support for drinking water and air regulations; evaluating repair and upgrade alternatives for groundwater extraction and unitary processes; preparing reports requested by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and local regulators.
